This portrait of a boy with a canary bird has been painted by Yevgeniy Dokuchaev of Fedoskino. He graduated from Fedoskino Art School in 1962, and in 1976 from the Moscow Higher Art Industrial College (former Stroganov School). This artist differs from his peers in that he sticks strictly to the traditional Stroganov and Fedoskino styles. This master is employed by "Russian Collection", "Sakva", is a member of the Artists' Union, and has also received the "Veteran of Labor" award.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines can be also found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
