This folding icon was painted by N. Mezhevov from the village of Mstera. It consists of the plate that rests on a platform and two leafs attached to this plate. The upper part of the icon is decorated with beautiful gold and aluminum floral patterns that encircle the icon of Jesus Christ. Just above this icon there is the orthodox cross (detachable) made out of gold metal. The exterior of the leaf hinged from the left features the icon of archangel Mikhail while the exterior of the leaf hinged from the right features the icon of archangel Gabriel. These leaves can be opened by means of two small knobs made out of gold metal. The interior of the leaf hinged from the left shows the icon of the Blessed Virgin, while the interior of the leaf hinged from the right shows the icon of John the Baptist. Both of these icons are framed with elegant gold patterns. In the middle of the piece the artist depicts the icon of Vladimirskaya Virgin with a child. From the left and right of this icon there are beautiful gold filigree patterns. On the backside of the piece there is the big orthodox cross painted in gold paints.
The icon is painted in bright tempera paints. Gold is used to draw the halos of the saints, to decorate their clothes and to detail the wings of the archangels.
The work is made out of paper-mache. Its exterior is covered with black lacquer. It is titled on the platform on which the plate rests. The artist has signed her creation on the backside of the piece in gold paints.
